Low fat? Low carb? Low cal? Low cholesterol? Low sugar? The question about how best to lose weight comes up again and again. CNN.com has just reported that when researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Pennington Biomedical Research Center tested four popular diets (high-carb, high-fat, low-fat, and high-protein), they found that all of the diets produced weight loss. How can that be? It's all about the calories, says study coauthor Dr. Frank Sacks.
According to CNN, "Sacks recommends going with 'the diet you feel most comfortable that is healthy, that appeals to you in terms of what foods are in it, that isn't a drastic crash diet. Whatever allows you to keep the calories down and not feel really deprived.'" Well, Epicurious members, take a second to pat yourselves on the back, because over a year ago we polled you about the best diet choice (low-calorie, low-carb, low-sugar, and low-fat) and you overwhelmingly chose cutting calories as the best way to lose weight.
